Take Action Now

I know I know its all about campaigns again but I need to put this up.  If just one person (I am afraid I think one must be from the UK) but nevertheless if just one person could sign the petition having read the link below it would make a difference.

Please click on the link and Take Action - Thank you.

Done - I may not be a Pom but BBC is all we watch here in Geneva, so the issue is current and relevant to us.

Achelois, do you know anything about this time limiting of ESA? What it means?

hi coffeecup I am afraid not as claim DLA. I have googled a lot for you and am having difficulty finding the most current information available on how long the period of time is for those claiming esa is to be time limited for (although I know its only applicable to those deemed capable of some paid work rather than those who are deemed unfit for work) which I think, stress on the I think, is one year. Its complicated and if you go to benefitscroungingsums blog you can find her link on the right hand panel on my blog, she is a friend of mine. You may find the answer there! However I will talk to her and get an accurate answer for you as soon as possible and get back to you asap. Sorry to appear so ignorant its hard at the minute to keep up with the most up to date and ever changing rules that the dwp are implementing/have implemented. I hope by the time I get back to you someone more informed than me has told you as I am feeling silly! I am angry enough at the proposed changes to DLA soon to be PIP. Hang on in there.

Hi Achelois, I have the answer. Yes you're right. Contributary ESA work related group is limited to one year. Either people are moved on to the income related ESA which is a lower rate or it is withdrawn completely if a partner earns or they have savings. This includes people formerly on incapacity benefit. Could be potentially catastrophic for sick and mentally ill people who are incorrectly assessed and those who simply have been unable to find employment, and not for want of trying.

Hi Coffeecup, looks like you found out before I. Although thank you to those who- got back to me when I asked you know who you are! Good luck steph, its like wading in treacle most days let alone dealing with those that deem themselves fit to make decisions about sick and disabled individuals future. They say knowledge is power, not so sure sometimes. Good luck Steph.xoxox

To Kath & Kim, thank you both so much for visiting and clicking etc! Kath my mother recently went to Portugal and was quite amazed that she could watch local news on the BBC lol. Bizarrely when at home in the UK she and my father in their 70's spend a lot of time watching foreign news channels. I have never quite worked out why they thought it wouldn't work the other way around!

Hi my friend----<3

Although not in the UK, I clicked on the link and got a blank page.

I can not get over those stats about Disabled people they had. So true, and oh so heartbreaking.
